Realty signs go up at Abbey Carpet and Floor in the New London Shopping Center

Motorists waiting at the light at Vauxhall Street and Colman Street might well take notice of a sign on a nearby building advertising major discounts at Abbey Carpet and Floor around the corner, but anyone who heads over there to look into it won't find anyone to tell them about this sale.

This retail space still has a few carpet and flooring samples inside as well as window stencils promoting their products, but the materials were in the process of being removed. But there is also a sign from Best Brokers letting any potential investors know about the space.

The business was part of a nationwide chain founded in 1958, with the official website making note of design and installation services.

The store made the Connecticut Department of Revenue Service's January 2013 list of top 100 delinquent business taxpayer accounts, with the department saying Abbey Carpet was behind $120,297.21 in sales and use taxes.

The space is located in the New London Shopping Center, where major businesses include Staples, Burlington Coast Factory, and AutoZone. What do you think should go here? Let us know in the comments.
