International Queer Shorts Program

OutCT is showcasing a series of films by and about gay,
lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queers (GLBTQ) from around the world on
Saturday, August 24 from 2:00-4:30pm at Expressiones Cultural Center at 84 Bank
Street in New London. The program includes a discussion with Margaret Breen,
Professor of English and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the
University of Connecticut. Breen specializes in LGBT literature and feminist
and queer studies. This is the first installment of an ongoing film series by
OutCT that will focus on various aspects of GLBTQ life.  The collection of short films is by international
filmmakers from Spain, Switzerland, Myanmar, South Africa, Canada, Germany, and
Chile.  The narrative (fictional) and
documentary films are light and playful, as well as dark and serious.  Gender, sexuality, and identity are key to
all the shorts.  The international films
