Free Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Screenings
New London, CT ~ Doctors at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital will provide free oral, head and neck cancer screenings Monday, April 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Community Cancer Center located at the hospital’s main campus on Montauk Avenue. Screenings are free, yet appointments are required. To book a time, please call 860.442.0711, ext. 3409.
The screenings are being offered as part of Oral, Head & Neck Cancer Awareness Month. Oral, head and neck cancer is the fifth most common cancer in the world – affecting nearly 95,000 people per year in the United States.
Signs and symptoms could include lump or sore in mouth or throat, hoarseness or change in voice, swallowing problems and bleeding in the nose, mouth or throat. Risk factors include tobacco use, alcohol and HPV, a sexually transmitted infection with human papillomavirus.
