New London Challenge: The Ship In City Hall

Last week's answer

The building with "Time is a ship that never anchors" on the side is the lighthouse keeper's home next to the New London Harbor Light. It might be a little tough to see from Pequot Ave., but this photo was taken from the small beach near the beacon during the announcement if a fundraising campaign to restore the lighthouse.

The keeper's house was built in1863 and enlarged in 1900, according to the New London Maritime Society. The New London Harbor Light is the oldest lighthouse in Connecticut, built in 1801. It was automated in 1912, and the New London Maritime Society has started offering tours of the light since taking ownership of the property in 2010. Their "Sentinels on the Sound" weekend starts on Saturday.

The keeper's house is now a private residence.

This week's question

This ship model can be found on the third floor of City Hall. New London has a strong maritime history, but what is the significance of this particular vessel?
