THE GALLERY AT FIREHOUSE SQUARE To Host Second Annual Canvases For A Cause

THE GALLERY AT FIREHOUSE SQUARE is hosting a special one-day art exhibit and sale to support cancer research, education, and prevention. The second annual Canvases For A Cause will be held at THE GALLERY on Sunday, April 28th from 11:00am to 3:00pm to benefit New London’s SAILS UP 4 CANCER and L+M Hospital’s new Cancer Center being built in New London. This exclusive one-day only maritime-themed art exhibition and sale will feature 35 critically acclaimed artists, including Glastonbury’s Jackie White, Ledyard’s Blaney Harris, Stonington’s Ralph Acosta, Mystic’s Del Bourree-Bach and Russ Kramer, and others, with proceeds benefiting SAILS UP 4 CANCER and its effort to support L+M Hospital’s new Cancer Center. Other notable artists include Florida’s Robert Giordano, Massachusetts’ Maris Platais and Texas’ Jaime Navarro. Art lovers and sailing enthusiasts will also enjoy a wine tasting of fine selected wines from Gordon’s Yellow Front Wines of New London, delicious brunch offerings, and guitar stylings by Tommy Giarrantano from Mystic. A donation of $25 is recommended for admission to the second annual Canvases For A Cause at THE GALLERY AT FIREHOUSE SQUARE. Artists interested in submitting artwork for this special one-day art exhibition and sale may contact Russ Kramer at SAILS UP 4 CANCER at russ@russkramer.com. More information is available at www.firehousesquare.com or www.SU4C.org. SAILS UP 4 CANCER (SU4C) is a non-profit organization dedicated to funding research in the education, prevention, and cure for all types of cancer through the art and enjoyment of sailing. To fulfill these goals, SU4C partners with local yacht clubs, sailing clubs and other like-minded organizations to host regattas and other fundraising events. The aim is to have the regattas appeal to everyone and not just the racing enthusiast. THE GALLERY AT FIREHOUSE SQUARE connects guests emotionally and physically with the coastal and inland waters, the ocean, and representational art depicting the splendor of the natural world. THE GALLERY was founded in 2009 as New London’s only gallery offering maritime antiquities and art from the 19th century through today. It is a virtual treasure trove of maritime history, as well as an artistic collective where emerging artists and art students find the kind of support necessary to showcase their vivid new talents. With over 75 artists for sale, there is so much to see and experience at THE GALLERY AT FIREHOUSE SQUARE. It is their goal to make art accessible to everyone – young and old, students, Connecticut residents and visitors to New London, boaters and sea lovers, collectors, and more. Comprised of four intimate galleries – The Firehouse, The Brick Annex Gallery, The Kate Gallery, and The Loon Gallery, THE GALLERY AT FIREHOUSE SQUARE is a living tribute to the rich maritime history of the area. ###
