Born in Niantic, CT, the sister of two disabled siblings, I learned early on that life is what you make of it.

A shoreline girl, I attended East Lyme Public Schools and earned my B.A. (and M.A.T.) at Connecticut College in New London, where I fell in love with elementary education and teaching. I went on to spend 21 years as a classroom teacher, first at Fishers Island School (right off the coast of N.L.) and, later, at the Regional Multicultural Magnet School (RMMS) in New London.

These days, I teach enrichment classes at RMMS, sub in Westerly Public Schools, and I am currently pursuing my dream of writing children’s books.

Much of my writing is a means of honoring my late brother and sister, as well as a way to express my profound gratitude for having these two amazing people in my life. Bobby and Jeannette were known and loved in the community, where they attended Waterford Public Schools. As adults, they both found true acceptance and pride in their work with Seabird Enterprises, a non-profit Groton-based agency which provides programming for individuals with developmental disabilities in the Southeastern CT community.

I live with my husband and two teens in Westerly, RI, where the ocean is never more than a few minutes away. We do, however, enjoy escaping to Concord, NH, where I’ve learned that water doesn’t have to be salty to be beautiful, and that mountains are as marvelous and everchanging to view as the dynamic and dazzling sea.
