One of two nonprofit volunteer organizations serving New London County, Literacy Volunteers of Southeastern ConnecticutMore works to teach English to the immigrant population of the region. The group also recruits and trains volunteers to teach English and basic literacy skills. Located on the third floor of the OIC building, the organization's office features computer labs, conversation groups and small group tutoring services.
Drop-In Learning Center

With a goal to be nurturing and offer educational support, the Drop-In Learning Center has been running numerous before-More and after-school programs since 1970. During the school year, the center provides nutritional snacks and academic support. Summer programs include educational and recreational activities, a family literacy program and a career skills program for teens. The center also has a resource center for social services referrals, food vouchers and clothing. Payment is on a sliding scale.
