"Connecticut: Still Revolutionary." Will it bring out-of-staters to us in droves? Take our poll and tell us what you think in the comments.
Earlier this week, Gov. Dannel Malloy unveiled Connecticut's new tourism slogan: "Connecticut: Still Revolutionary." "'Still Revolutionary' speaks to Connecticut’s deep roots in the founding of this country and reminds us that we still have that independent, revolutionary spirit," Malloy said in a press release. "For centuries we have been the home of literary greats, innovators and natural wonders — an incredibly diverse array of products and talent, all right here in Connecticut. We are a beautiful state, and we are very proud of our history, even as we look toward our future. It’s time we did a better job of telling that story," Malloy said. The tourism campaign is a $27 million effort that will span two years. It will include TV, …

Modern Family, 9 p.m., ABC Last week’s episode was the perfect mix of emotion and humor. The humanity of Jay was really touching, in both his reminiscences of the dissolution of his marriage, and his care of Gloria’s feet. Don’t Trust The B …, 9:30 p.m., ABC “Meatballs!” Seriously, if you are not watching this – why not? And thank goodness, it has been renewed! Criminal Minds, 9 p.m., CBS Season finale – and for all you fans of rampant misogyny, this has been renewed.

NCIS, 8 p.m., CBS It’s finale, finale, finale this week all over the schedule. In tonight’s season finale here, “Shaken by terrorism, the NCIS faces devastating surprises; the case impacts Jimmy Palmer's destination wedding.” At 9, the two-hour season finale of the LA version offers this: “Callen and the team pursue a criminal mastermind motivated by revenge.” America’s Got Talent, 8 p.m., NBC San Francisco! So many unique and talented individuals here. Private Practice, 10 p.m., ABC The switch to Tuesdays has not been kind to this tired dishrag of a medical drama, but fear not the few of who remain devoted – it looks like ABC will renew for one more season, if only to give them a chance to figure out a way to kill everyone off in the most…

TV tips for Monday May 14, 2012
America’s Got Talent, 8 p.m., NBC So this is a conundrum for me. I adore AGT. Love it. Watch it faithfully with the kids. But … I detest Howard Stern. Like, with all my heart. Like, deeply. Like, a lot. I’d rather French kiss Piers Morgan than support anything connected to Howard Stern. And I am befuddled as to the thinking behind putting this disgusting piece of junk behind the judges’ desk of such a family show. So … I am not sure what to do here. Bones, 8 p.m., Fox Season finale. Parenthood. Couplehood. Lots of changes for our two this season. Bottom line, decent season, but not great. The Bachelorette, 9:30 p.m., ABC Have you ever seen failure rewarded more than on this franchise? This woman, Emily Maynard, failed miserably in her …

Diversifying the car-borne music scene in New London
If you have the time to sit down and read a lengthy document or ordinance, you might find that it’s unexpectedly entertaining. For example, I know that my renter's insurance will reimburse me for damages from things like volcanoes and falling aircraft but not the explosions of nuclear weapons (unless my home is burned by the firestorm instead of destroyed by the blast wave, in which case it’s all good). Prior to starting this column, I browsed through the city’s noise ordinance. It’s a muddled collection of definitions, decibel ratings, and noise zoning. The most amusing part is certainly the noises deemed excluded or exempted, including “sound generated by natural phenomena,” “farming equipment or activity,” and “patriotic or public …

Survivor: One World, 8 p.m. This started out as a season that was physically painful to watch. But once Colton left, things picked up considerably, and when Kim emerged as a powerful genius, it got really good. Good luck tonight, gang. (Reunion show is at 10.) Celebrity Apprentice, 9 p.m., NBC It was inevitable that Teresa would be fired last week, but I have to say the Lisa offing took me by surprise. Maybe the guy in charge of the bleep button begged Trump to get rid of her, as he had developed carpal tunnel syndrome while managing all her foul-mouthed tantrums. Or maybe they had depleted the tissue budget, and the chronic crier had to be cut because of that. Or maybe Trump just got tired of her ^&%$*&#@. At any rate, when we open …

Raiders of the Lost Ark, 8 p.m., Bravo Perfect movie to settle in with the kids on a Saturday night. Because I Said So, 10 p.m., Style “The proud but meddlesome mother of three women tries to find the perfect man for her youngest daughter by placing an online personal ad. He’s Just Not That Into You, 6 p.m., USA “Friends and lovers try to navigate their way through the complexities of modern relationships, sometimes misconstruing the true intentions of the opposite sex. Based on the book by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo. Starring Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connolly.” All this talent, wasted.

The General Assembly finished its session Wednesday. Was it mission accomplished? Take our poll and add your thoughts in the comments.
On Wednesday, the General Assembly closed out its 2012 session, jamming business in right to the last second. In his speech to the legislators, Gov. Dannel Malloy said a lot of change was made this year: "Over the course of the last 16 months we have pushed more change through these two chambers than has occurred in Connecticut in a long, long time. Positive, meaningful change. ... It’s required a lot of tough decisions to be made. Along the way it’s ruffled a lot of feathers. That’s because change is hard. Let me repeat: change is hard. But change is also necessary. While the world changed, and while states around us changed, Connecticut stood still. Thanks to the men and women in this chamber, that’s no longer the case. Now …

CSI: New York, 9 p.m., CBS “Mac fights for his life after being shot, and the team tries to bring the person responsible to justice.” This could be it for this show, as The Eye has said it is planning to cancel wither New York or Miami … so … maybe Mac dies, maybe he doesn’t, and maybe you’ll never know. Blue Bloods, 10 p.m., CBS Season finale. Thank you for naming this episode Mother’s Day, show producers, as it is an 11th hour reminder to all you dads and kids out there that Sunday is Mother’s Day. I, of course, will be at the Little League field on Mother’s Day, where I have been on this sacred day every year for the last seven years. Freaky Friday, 9 p.m., ABCFamily If you want to feel really sad about Lindsay Lohan, watch this great …
