The writer of this article should make a correction...only the first two on the list of 7 possiblyRead More contaminated fruits are organic. Organic produce usually has the PLU starting with the number 9. All the others listed as Orchard Perfect fruits are not organic. Orchard Perfect is just a brand and is not organic. Way to scare people into thinking organic is bad.
Victor July 23, 2014 at 09:25 am
Jen - you're totally correct.
Kara Seymour July 23, 2014 at 09:32 am
the article clearly states the list of products recalled, two of which are organic, so no correctionRead More is warranted.

Thomas Paine - it would not have mattered. They were all outnumbered and/or out-positioned.
Thomas Paine July 23, 2014 at 11:59 am
Bobbie, you really are suffering from a vacuous yet stubborn ideology compounded by rhetoricalRead More constipation. You seemingly abhor the loss of a single life via gunfire but see no tragedy in the loss of millions of unborn every year through abortion? Or yes, a fetus is not a life by your definition. How about the thousands of very late term abortions where the fetus is partially born and the brain, from the head out of the womb, is sucked out by a vacuum device? Or Dr. Gosnell's practice of delivering the child completely and then snipping the spinal cord with scissors? Do those qualify as born children to you. Do those practices disgust you as much as gun violence supposedly does? Do those practices not result in the death of a living being given your earlier definition of "life". >>> You can now add me to the list of folks here who will no longer engage you.

"Access to guns all but ensures that an abusive situation turns fatal. Domestic abusers whoRead More have access to firearms are over 7 times more likely to kill their partners. From 2009 to 2012, 40 percent of mass shootings started with the shooter targeting his girlfriend, wife or ex-wife. Meanwhile, in states that require a background check for private handgun sales, 38 percent fewer women are shot to death by their intimate partners."

I wouldn't call pizza junk food. unless you're getting it from dominos or some other chain. ButRead More anyway, the answer to this is easy. My favorite junk food is Chips Ahoy (and not those disgusting chewy ones) - dipped in milk, of course.

In Woodbury it is the stress of the property values decreasing and the ever increasing of taxes.Read More People can not afford their taxes now. This years shell game, the First Selectman and the BOF Chair want everyone to believe that only 40% of the taxpayers taxes are going up. 40% increase in stress in those people's lives. Don't worry though the First Selectman and the BOF Chair have stated that no ones taxes are going up. ??? It's called talking out of both sides of your mouth. Tell the voters whatever they want to hear to get the budget passed. The voters have another chance to VOTE DOWN the proposed budget on the 23rd. Remember VOTE YES FOR HIGHER TAXES.

Hi everyone here. What Christine Coleman said is very true though i may not know her. I experiencedRead More it first hand also. It was this organization called consumer loan firm (C.L.f)that really helped me to pay my medical bills when i was in dare need of money because i am a widow. A friend of my also directed me to them. when i was about to do a major operation and i had no money at that time, they came to my rescue and in less than 48 hours, i got my loan. But to say the truth, i was nervous and scared at first because i have been scammed twice. But when i summoned up courage and follow their lending policies along with my friends advice, at the end i found myself smiling. If not for them, maybe i would have been dead by now. I have even taken another loan from them start my business after my recovery which i am also paying back now. My only advice now is that any body who is really in need of loan should contact them with their email via: consumerloanfirm@gmail.com and get a loan from them. Thanks
This guy deserves his bad reputation.

I have never seen a case where a man is paid more than a woman for an identical position - noRead More employer wants to pay more for no reason. It's just typical election noise from liberals who are left with nothing but divide-and- win
Judy Davidson July 21, 2014 at 08:12 pm
My experience is not anecdotal, that is usually a one time situation. My experience spans 25 years,Read More in different industries, and being part of hiring thousands of people at all different job levels. I am sure there are companies who have discriminated but they are few and far between. With all the women in HR positions all over this country, if this was news, it would have been made news long ago. Plus, people are litigious and companies are not going to risk that. In addition, since I have been privy to employee lawsuits, I never saw ONE that had to do with pay disparity with men. Sometimes they had to do with sexual harrassment, however the biggest number, according to statistics, is retaliation for being on leave, and that has nothing to do with gender.

Frank in bury. If you are old enough to remember the O,Neil budget fiasco that resulted in theRead More implementation of the state income tax of 4.5%, the alternative was a 12% sales tax. That sales tax would have been also paid predominantly by Fairfield County residents. They carry, financially, the other 8 counties in Connecticut.
arkay July 22, 2014 at 12:57 am
@Gus, counties don't actually mean anything in CT, just geographic borders. Bridgeport is as much ofRead More a money suck as any city in the state, and that's in FFC. There's plenty of affluent communities in New Haven, Hartford, Litchfield counties (and elsewhere) that pay their fair share. Fairfield County does pay a proportionally high amount of taxes, but that is in a select few towns - definitely not northern or eastern FFC, which is more in line with other parts of the state.
Gus R. Horvath July 22, 2014 at 11:55 am
arkay. I was born and grew up in Bridgeport in the 1930s to1960s when it was known as the park city.Read More It was not the drag on Fairfield County it is today. The point I wish to make is that the much maligned billionaires of Fairfield County contribute an inordinate amount financial resources to the state of Connecticut helping to reduce your and my tax burden. My son is a building engineer for Ray Dalio's hedge fund so I am aware of the goings on there.
