Three locations in area will each have two WNBA players greeting customers and signing autographs
If you visit the Colman Street Dunkin' Donuts at the right time on Thursday, you might get a basketball player's autograph along with your morning coffee. Players from the Connecticut Sun, the local WNBA team, will be visiting three Dunkin' Donuts shops around the region from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Two players will be at each location to greet customers and sign autographs. In addition to the New London site, players will also visit shops at 799 Long Hill Road in Groton and 641 Route 32 in Montville. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

The food strolls are one of New London Main Street’s biggest annual events, so it’s no surprise that tonight’s spring food stroll—along with the corresponding events by other businesses—is one of the most prominent things to do this week. They're trying to recruit 600 new members by May 19
The Submarine Force Museum embarked on a journey on Sunday, May 13--to gain 600 new members in six days. According to the Groton museum's website, $35 buys you an annual membership, which includes newsletters, invites to events, discounts at the gift shop and online, a listing in the registry and more! The museum accepts online donations, so it's super easy to become a a member. The museum's Facebook page is also keeping track of new members and adding their names to its cover photo, so be sure to check for your name if you decide to join! Orlando Morel, one of cadets graduating from the Coast Guard Academy today, was saved by the service when he was six years old
One of the cadets graduating from the Coast Guard Academy today is repaying the service for saving his life when he was six years old. According to the Huffington Post, Orlando Morel and several other migrants from Haiti were heading to the United States on a small wooden boat when the vessel got lost. Suffering from lack of food and water, Morel and his fellow passengers were rescued by the Coast Guard. Morel was sent to Cuba after his rescue, and later reunited with his ill mother at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. He was adopted by Louise Jackson, who was serving in the Navy and acting as Morel's mother's translator, after his mother died. Morel was inspired to serve in the Coast Guard, and will be part of the 131st commencement …

Kids, don't spend your summer watching cartoons when you can learn to draw your own! The Custom House Maritime Museum is teaming up with artist Jon Buller to host a summer session of cartooning classes, the museum announced on Facebook. According to the post, the "Cartooning for Kids" class will be held on the following Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m.: The four-session class is for kids ages 7 and up. Statewide singing group visits the Second Congregational Church of New London
A statewide chorale will give its first concert in southeastern Connecticut this weekend, bringing a program of spring music to the Second Congregational Church. The Greater Middletown Chorale will perform “Come, Let Us Sound With Melody” at 4 p.m. on Sunday. General admission is $25, while the attendees over the age of 62 are admitted for $20. Students from age 10 through college pay $15, while children under the age of nine are admitted for free. The chorale was established in Middletown in 1977, but today includes members from 35 different communities. Matt McCaffrey, president of the chorale and pastor of the Second Congregational Church, said the group includes some professional singers but mostly consists of people who enjoy singing…
