Weekend Planner: Can and Bottle Drive, Films, Caribbean Night, and More

Check out what is going on in the region this weekend.

Eagle Scout Project Can and Bottle Drive
Saturday, 8 a.m. - A can and bottle drive to benefit an Eagle Scout project, which benefits Safe Futures of New London, will be held in the Friendship School parking lot. The project is to collect bottles and cans to refund them for money. After collecting the revenue from that, as well as donations of goods and money, the Scout will buy backpacks, blankets, coloring books, crayons, pens, journals, and tooth care items. All of these things make up a survival pack for the children that enter the emergency shelter. The only thing the Scout needs to make his project a complete success is to buy 50 fleece blankets and 25 more backpacks.

Kayak Regatta

Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - The 10th annual kayak regatta will be held and there will be free clam chowder from Flanders Fish and free hotdogs from The Dock. Decorate your kayak for prizes. Kayak demos will be done by EMS and Three Belles Marina. Pre-registration is required.
