The event, with the theme "Love Thy Neighbor," will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Riverside Park. Admission is free.

The event will feature several forms of entertainment including food and arts and crafts vendors, a static display of race cars from the Waterford Speedbowl, informational tables on community organizations, a flash mob dance, and several children's events. These include a mini-circus led by Maia Rose of Every Body Hoops, face painting and temporary tattoos from TDP Art Studio, and a children's parade.

Neighbor Day was established in New London in 2011 and modeled after a Westerly event, which began in the wake of the fatal stabbing of a teenager as a way of encouraging people to heal and get to know one another. New London's event was set up in similar circumstances with the same goal following the 2010 murder of 25-year-old resident Matthew Chew.
