Wintry Mix Forecasted for Monday Morning

Williams School in New London has delayed its opening by 90 minutes. Whether it's enough to cause school delays and cancellations in New London remains to be seen.

Monday morning could be a little messy. And that means ... brace yourselves parents ... the kiddies could possibly have a delayed opening or cancellation.

Here's what things are looking like, according to the National Weather Service:

The storm arrived in the early hours on Monday beginning with snow before turning over to a wintry mix of rain, snow and sleet. Accumulation is expected to be minimal, less than an inch, with a 70% change of precipitation.

On Monday, the wintry mix will continue to fall till around noon, when it will change over entirely to rain as temperatures climb into the 40s. This afternoon's commute should be much better, with dry conditions predicted. As of 6 a.m., New London Public Schools were still scheduled to open as planned. Other schools in the area, including Williams School, had announced delayed openings, so do check to make sure your student isn't standing outside waiting for the bus in the freezing rain needlessly.

Beyond that, no precipitation is in the forecast for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
