When it comes to painting downtown venues, a group of professional artists has been diligently working for several weeks to establish a to greet visitors to the weekend's OpSail 2012 and Sailfest weekend. But a volunteer group has also been hard at work with the brushes and rollers to make New London shine.
Paint The Town has been holding regular meetings and events to brighten up downtown locations and pick up litter around the city. Alan "Chip" Green Jr., a member of the organization and owner of , said contributions have included painting the deck areas of and . On Tuesday, they helped paint welcome signs donated by the Big Brothers Big Sisters program at .
The video portrays some of this work, as 60 Connecticut College students joined other volunteers in the effort on an April weekend. It starts with a rendezvous at and gives unofficial titles to several people making appearances ("mascot/model," "humanitarian/team lead, "captain of smiles/team lead," etc.).
