Gemma Moran Food Center Receives 96,000 Eggs

Moark, LLC donated the eggs to the United Way organization

 

The United Way of Southeastern Connecticut has announced that Moark, LLC donated 96,000 eggs to the on Monday, March 26 as part of a national effort through the United Egg Producers and Feeding America.

“Eggs are a great source of protein and one of the best food items we could ask [for] and helps to increase the nutritional value of the foods we provide to those in need within our community,” Virginia Mason, president and CEO of United Way of Southeastern Connecticut, said in the press release.

According to the release, this year one in eight Americans will receive assistance from local food banks like the Gemma Moran Center.

“This donation comes at a time when need is high, so we are thankful to important community partners like Moark, who help keep nutritious food on the tables of our struggling friends and neighbors," United Way Board Chair Nancy Bulkeley said in the press release.
