Video Conferencing Benefits...

When one thinks of video conferencing… one thinks Big Company, Big Expense, Big Difficulty in using… With freeware such as Skype, FaceTime etc… small companies are beginning to "feel out" video conferencing for the first time and cost effectively… it is free! When one starts to get more comfortable with its use and requires a better quality of service one can start looking at for pay services such as #easymeeting.net or those from #Cisco etc…

However before moving to that area of thought in investing in for pay services one has to truly understand the real benefits that video conferencing provides.

1. Better judge their body language - In business, non-verbal communication is as important as what your colleagues are saying. You can see if the person you’re talking to is smiling or frowning, for example, which is something you can't glean from phone conferencing. By taking cues from people’s body language, you can tailor your conversation to your audience’s mood (do they seem bored? tired?). It has been said that 60% of communication is non verbal! Now how do you assess that with a phone call?

2. Creates and Strengthens office relationships - Ever heard the expression ‘getting face time’? It’s important being able to see your business partners and colleagues, since it helps people get to know each other better--video conferencing lets you get to know people on a deeper level than with a phone call, as people tend to show more of their personality when they can see each other when speaking. Plus, it’s MUCH easier to work with someone that you see regularly.  So if you’re working remotely and aren’t in the office often, video conferencing is a way to make yourself seen, improving relationships with your colleagues and building key relationships! Seeing is believing!

3. Save time - By using video conferencing one can avoid travelling long distances in order to attend meetings. This means that you can save time, and also increase your productivity as you can work when you would otherwise be travelling. To show your company your value as a remote worker, the more productive you are, the better it is. Increases in productivity and cuts in costs and stress! (See below #4)

4. Saves money - As companies grow and enter the 21st century remote work is being demanded more and more by recently college graduates. Video conferencing can help your company save money, as it will not need to pay for unused conference rooms, transportation or accommodation. Video conferencing still lets you and your colleagues get face time, but from your remote location! 1 dollar saved in travel is 5 dollars earned in productivity!

5.  Do business at any time - Need to meet with someone on a completely different time zone? Easily do so without having to leave your house while still having the all important face-to-face element. You can easily arrange for a presentation or to close business at any time, from anywhere without having to worry about conventional office hours. Think out of the box… business is done outside of the business not just internally with co-workers! Reach out to your resellers, vendors etc… no matter where in the world they are!
