Your Guide to New London's Sailfest 2014 (And Fireworks)

New London's Sailfest features music, rides, tall ships, more than 200 vendors, a road race and fireworks.

The weekend long event runs from Friday to Sunday, July 11 to 13. The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 12, and it's quite the show, as the attached video from 2012 shows!

Friday: Noon to 11 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sunday: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Schooner VIRGINIA Visits Sailfest

Schooner VIRGINIA is a recreation of the last all-sail vessel built for the Virginia Pilot Association. That ship, which served in the Chesapeake Bay between 1917-1926, held station off Cape Henry and was used to train apprentice pilots in seamanship and navigation. The recreated VIRGINIA was launched in 2004 and offers exciting educational programs for both students and adults while sailing between the Caribbean, Bermuda, and Canada’s Maritime provinces.

Friday, July 11 — 11 a.m.- Arrival in New London

Saturday, July 12 — Noon to 2 p.m. Public Day Sail ($50 per person); 2 to 6 p.m. Free public deck tours of VIRGINIA

Sunday, July 13 — Noon to 2 p.m. Public Day Sail ($50 per person); 2 to 6 p.m. Free public deck tours of VIRGINIA; 7 to 9 p.m. Public Day Sail ($50 per person)
