Connecticut College wins men's hockey game on Friday

Connecticut College picked up a men's hockey win on Friday, defeating Colby College on their home ice. The following information was provided by William Tomasian, sports information director at Connecticut College:

Connecticut College broke a 1-1 tie with three goals in the final 9:38 of the opening period on the way to a 5-2 victory over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday night at Alfond Rink.

Sean Curran (Wilmette, Ill.) had one goal and three assists for the Camels (2-5 overall, 2-3 NESCAC). Keith Veronesi (South Glastonbury, Conn.) added a pair of goals, while J.J. McGregor (Wichita, Kan.) had three assists.

Connecticut College's Mike Sinsigalli (Wilton, Conn.) and Colby's Nick Lanza (Rocky Hill, Conn.) traded goals in the opening 7:54 of play. Curran put the Camels ahead for good at 10:22 of the first period. Will Leedy (Farmers Branch, Texas) also tallied for the Camels.

Ben Chwick had a third-period goal for the Mules (2-5, 1-4 NESCAC).

Mike Petchonka (Ridgfield, Conn.) stopped 27 shots for the Camels and that included two third period saves from point blank range.

Junior net-minder Matt Delaney (Houston, Tex.) finished with 19 saves for the Mules.
