NEWMAC Names Three Coast Guard Athletes Of The Week

Softball, baseball, track members recognized

The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference has named three athletes of the week from the Coast Guard Academy. Hayley Feindel, a junior with the softball team, was named Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season. Nate Toll, a softball with the baseball team, was named Co-Pitcher of the Week. Adam Scalesse, a freshman, was named Track Athlete of the Week. The following information was provided by the Coast Guard Academy Athletic Department:

Feindel did not allow a run in 23 innings and had three shutouts and a perfect 4-0 record in a 4-0 week for the Bears, ranked 10th nationally.

She allowed just six hits, walked six and fanned 36 to become just the 12th player in Division III history to record 1,000 strikeouts in her career. She now has 1,018 career strikeouts.

Feindel is 23-1 with a 0.76 ERA, 269 strikeouts and 16 shutouts this season.

Coast Guard is 23-1 overall and 9-1 in softball conference play.

Nate Toll was named Co-Pitcher of the week after throwing a two-hit shutout on Sunday.

Toll fired a two-hit shutout as the Bears beat MIT 6-0 to avoid a sweep of a three-game series. He walked three and fanned six to improve to 4-1 on the season. The shutout was the first of the season for Toll and his first ever Pitcher of the Week honor.

Coast Guard is 14-9 overall and 4-5 in baseball conference play.

Scalesse won both the 110 hurdles (15.33) and the 400 hurdles (55.25) as the Bears won their own Coast Guard Invitational.

The freshman is seeded as the No. 2 110 hurdler in Division III New England and the top 400 hurdler in the region.
