Mitchell Competes In Wesleyan Invitational

Mariner running teams place fourth and eighth

The Mitchell College men's cross-country team took fourth place at the Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday at Long Lanes Farm, while the women's team placed eighth. The following information was provided by David Longolucco, sports information director at Mitchell College:

Three freshmen paced the Mariners on the men's side. Sherif Ali finished eighth overall with a time of 28:37.30 over the 8k course. Jake Ustjanaskos placed 20th overall in 30:04.90 while Evan Garrity (30:59.10) and sophomore Drew Castagna (30:59.90) crossed the line together in 27th and 28th place, respectively.

On the women's side, freshman Bridget Burns continued to lead Mitchell with a time of 23:01.10 over the 5k course. She finished 49th overall. Classmate Katie Buchanan was the next teammate across the line in 25:41.50.
