The Mariners supplied Martinez with the only run he would need in the first inning on a sacrifice fly to right field by Apostolo that brought home Perillo. Apostolo singled to drive in Perillo once again and later scored while junior Felix Colarte (North Bergen, N.J./North Bergen) was hung up in a rundown between first and second base.

Mitchell broke the game open with a five-run fourth inning. After senior John McGarry (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) plated the first run with a ground out to first, Perillo and Apostolo each followed with two-run homers to center field to make it 8-0. Perillo’s homer was his third of the season while Apostolo increased his league–leading total to seven.

Senior Carlos Hughes (Trenton, N.J./Trenton Catholic) provided the final runs of the game with a two-run homer to left field in the sixth. It was his third long ball of the season, all of which have come during conference play.

Martinez pitched around three walks and four hit batters in the contest, working out of jams in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Lesley stranded a total of four runners in scoring position during the span.
