Connecticut College Wins Swim Meets

Camels defeat SCSU on Sunday

Connecticut College picked up a double win against Southern Connecticut State University in a men's and women's swimming and diving dual meet on Sunday. The following information was provided by William Tomasian, sports information director at Connecticut College:

The 25th ranked men secured a 158-104 triumph, while the Camel women, ranked #21 in the nation scored a 161-136 win.

Senior Tim Walsh (Lincoln Park, N.J.) provisionally qualified for the 2012 NCAA Championship in the 100 yard backstroke.

Walsh posted victories in the 200 yard freestyle and in the 200 yard backstroke with respective times of 1:45.58 and 1:54.37. Sophomore Sam Gill (Springfield, Ill.) secured wins in the 100 yard free and the 100 yard fly with times of 48.21 and 52.03 seconds.

Sean Paquette (Middletown, R.I.) triumphed in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 54.89 seconds. Bohdan Martin (West Hartford, Conn.) posted a winning time of 2:02.10 in the 200 yard individual medley. Max Fabian (Keene, N.H.) chipped in with a victory in the 1000 yard freestyle, registering a time of 9:46.

Tim Walsh, Cameron Johnson (Westford, Mass.), Sean Paquette and Sam Gill teamed up for a victory in the 400 yard medley relay, logging a time of 3:33.49.

In the women's action, junior Katie Karlson (Wayland, Mass.), Julia Pielock (Deerfield, Mass.), and Esther Mehesz (Wethersfield, Conn.) were multiple event winners for the Camels.

Karlson posted winning times of 1:09.16 and 2:29.62 in the 100 and 200 yard backstroke. Pielock triumphed in the 100 and 200 yard freestyle with respective times of 54.23 second and 1:58.53. Mehesz secured wins in the 500 and 1000 yard freestyle, posting times of 5:17.53 and 10:38.77.

Erika Fernandes (Westport, Mass.) triumphed in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.21 seconds. Sophomore Rachel Bohn (Trumbull, Conn.) won the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:17.40.

In the 200 yard freestyle relay, Julia Pielock, Jessica Schanzer (Monterey, Calif.), Mackenzie Lilly (Frederick, Md.), and Abbey Ridge (Yarmouth, Maine) posted a winning time of 1:41.85.

Rachel Bohn, Katie Karlson, Erika Fernandes and Pielock posted a winning time of 4:06.56 in the 400 yard medley relay
