Men's Lacrosse: Conn College 12, Kean 3
Junior attackman Andrew Freedman (Sudbury, Mass.) scored a pair of goals and assisted on three others as Connecticut College cruised to a 12-3 victory against Kean University on Saturday.

The Camels improve their record to 5-4 with their third straight win. The Cougars had their three game winning streak halted with the setback as the visitors slip to 9-4.
JR Hartgers (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) contributed three goals and one assist for the winning side. Tyler Corcoran (Simsbury, Conn.) and Tim Kast (Medway, Mass.) both scored twice.

Junior defender Mike Brennan (Chester Springs, Pa.) corralled five ground balls and contributed to a defensive unit that limited the Cougars to just 11 successful clears in 19 attempts.
Chuck Czerkawski (Cohasset, Mass.) won 16 of 19 face-offs in the trenches and added a game-high seven ground balls.
Rob Moccia (Malvern, Pa.) stopped eight shots to pick up the victory and was relieved by Nate Roy (Essex, Conn.), who made two saves in the closing 3:45 of action.
Kean University senior midfielder Nick Angrisani (Belle Mead, N.J.), Sean Bobal (Clinton, N.J.) and Brad Mills (Vernon, N.J.) all contributed goals for the visitors.
Nicholas Cestaro (West Islip, N.Y.) collected four ground balls for the Cougars.
Junior net-minder Lane Zierten (Washington Township, N.J.) had 14 saves and three ground balls in three periods of action in the cage. Dino Vitale (Ambler, Pa.) made three stops in the closing quarter of action.
After a slow offensive start for both sides, the Camels took advantage of an unsettled situation to break the ice with the game's first goal. Jack Griffin (Seaford, N.Y.) went from end to end in transition and connected with Hartgers for a goal with 2:34 remaining in the opening quarter.
John Lyons (Barrington, R.I.) netted his 15th goal of the season just 32 seconds later to vault the Camel out to a 2-0 lead after one.
With 11:38 remaining in the second quarter, the Camels took a 3-0 lead when Freedman assisted Stephen Eicher (Northport, N.Y.) for a goal with a nifty looking feed from behind the cage.
The Cougars got one back from Mills with 7:35 remaining but the hosts closed out the half with two more scoring strikes coming 1:26 apart. Briggs Barton (Rye, N.Y.) put the Camels on top 4-1 and Freedman buried a one-time on an assisting pass from Hartgers that vaulted the Camels out to a 5-1 lead at the break.
The Camels continued to pull away in the third quarter and out-scored the opposition 5-0 in the quarter to carry a 10-1 advantage into the final quarter of action.
Connecticut College was able to hold on for the comfortable 12-3 win. Connecticut College held a 48-to-28 advantage in shots and enjoyed a 35-to-17 edge in ground balls.
Connecticut College will visit Keene State College on Tuesday night for a 7 p.m. game in Keene, N.H. The Cougars will host Montclair State University Thursday night for a 7 p.m. contest.
Rowing
The Connecticut College men's and women's rowing teams opened their spring racing season on Lake Quinsigamond Saturday.
The Camel women placed second in three of their four regattas, while the men's novice four finished second in its regatta.
In the women's varsity eight, the Camel women placed second behind the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College with a time of 7:16. Justine Rooney (Centerville, Mass.) handled the stroke row with Val Goldstein (Brookline, Mass.) guiding the Camels as the coxswain. Jo Collins was positioned in the bow seat for Connecticut College. Sophia Muller (Chula Vista, Calif.), Annie Scheer (Bernardsville, N.J.), Hannah Brassord (Amherst, Mass.), Emily Wilde (Potomac, Md.), Caity Sprague (Bristol, R.I.) and Jenny Cochrane (Hingham, Mass.) were seated 2-7.
The Camels finished ahead of Amherst, Clark and the Ravens of Franklin Pierce in the women's varsity four, posting a time of 7:50 to place second behind Bowdoin College. (7:40). Junior Seana Siekman (Bethel, Maine) was positioned in the stroke seat with Maureen Sweeney (New Canaan, Conn.) on board as the coxswain. Lucy Frye (Wenham, Mass.) and Cody Chase (Berkely Heights, N.J.) were joined by Story Southworth (Andover, N.H.) in the bow seat for the Camels.
In the second varsity four, the Camels posted a time of 8:29 to edge out Amherst and Clark for second place. Bowdoin College won the regatta in 8:08.
Sophomore Mackenzie Jackson (Upland, Calif.) was positioned in the stroke seat. Kate Gulick-Tuers (Ringoes, N.J.) was the coxswain. Lily Beck (Bolton, Mass.) and Irene Bucken (Pepperell, Mass.) were joined by Emily Goldstein (Amherst, Mass.) in the bow seat for Head Coach Eva Kovach's Camels.
In the women's novice four, the Camels posted a time of 8:47 en route to their fourth place showing. Grace Steward (South Hamilton, Mass.) was positioned in the stroke seat with Alexandra Freidman (Bedford, N.Y.) guiding the Camels as the cox. Sarah Fishmen (Lexington, Mass.) and Sarah Bradford (Madison, Conn.) were joined by Chloe Jones (Burlington, N.J.) in the bow seat.
In the men's action, the Camels, captained by Matt Larkin (Trumbull, Conn.) and Matt Murdock (Middletown, Conn.) opened their 2012 season.
In the novice four regatta, the Camels finished in second place behind Bowdoin College with a time of 7:38.
The Camel men added a pair of fourth place finishes in the varsity four (7:36) and in the second varsity four (7:31), outlasting the Cougars of Clark University in both regattas.
