After Bates (4-8, 2-7 NESCAC) went up 5-1 21 seconds into the third quarter, the Camels (8-5, 5-4 NESCAC) held the Bobcats scoreless the rest of the way, finishing the game with five unanswered goals.

Bates goalie Adam Scharff, one of nine Bates seniors playing in his final home game, played an exceptional game, making 12 saves as the Camels put 18 shots on goal to 14 for Bates.

Bates broke up a scoreless tie with 4:40 left in the first quarter, as Dan Hines threaded a nice interior pass to Jason Hichborn for a quick finish. Lyons answered with 2:06 to go in the period, as Lyons took advantage of a one-on-one situation and shot it over Scharff's shoulder and in to tie the game 1-1.

The Bobcats went ahead 2-1 with 9:39 left in the second quarter, as Scharff saved a close-range shot by Stephen Eicher and Bates counterattacked with a fast break, ending in a goal from the left of the Camels' goal by Thomas Repko.

After two missed shots by Hines, Bates called timeout with 4:15 left in the half, and 17 seconds later on the clock Kyle Starr flipped a pass from the left wing to Jack Strain, who one-timed a shot from the left doorstep past Moccia to make it 3-1.

The Bobcats made it 4-1 less than a minute later, as Rob Highland found shooting space 15 yards out and ripped it into the upper right corner. Scharff saved a shot by Andrew Freedman in the waning seconds of the half to preserve a 4-1 edge at intermission.

Mac Jackson won the faceoff to start the third quarter, getting his own ground ball, then pulled off the highlight of the day for the Bobcats, circling around behind the Camels' net, getting tripped up, then getting back on his feet with the ball still in his stick before jumping and sticking a shot inside the far post for a 5-1 Bates lead with 14:39 to go in the third quarter.

The Camels finally got back on the scoreboard for the first time in over 20 minutes, and it was Lyons again, taking a pass from Corcoran to score the game's only man-up goal.

Connecticut College began to gain momentum with 4:38 left in the period, as JR Hartgers flipped a kickout pass to Freedman, who scored from the left side of the circle to close the gap to 5-3 before the end of the quarter.

Neither team could find the back of the net again until 6:06 remained in the fourth quarter. Out of a Camel timeout, Corcoran flipped to Lyons, who was crossing the perimeter in the opposite direction, and Lyons scored his third goal. Connecticut College then tied the game upwith 3:14 to go with a nearly identical play on the left side of the circle, this time with Lyons assisting Eicher.

The Camels won the ensuing faceoff and saw a shot by Briggs Barton travel wide before Corcoran connected for the go-ahead goal, finishing off a long individual drive with 1:50 left in the game.

Connecticut College won the next draw, too, but Andrew Berry caused a Camel turnover, and Hines missed a shot wide, with Brogan O'Connor picking up the miss for the Camels. Conn called timeout before turning the ball over with 50 seconds left in the game, and Bates maintained possession after Strain missed wide. Bates called a final timeout, and then nearly turned it over before Strain missed wide again with 16 seconds left. Bates maintained possession again but couldn't get a final shot off to try to tie the game.
