Connecticut College Smashes Out Another Lacrosse Win

Connecticut College picked up another lacrosse win on Thursday as the women's team defeated Manhattanville College 18-2. The following information was provided by William Tomasian, sports information director at Connecticut College:

Junior midfielder Bri Miller (Sudbury, Mass.) erupted with three goals and three assists to lead the Connecticut College women's lacrosse team to an 18-2 victory against Manhattanville College Thursday.

The Camels improve their record to 4-6 with the triumph, while the Valiants slip to 2-8 in the setback.

Maura Brazel (Boxford, Mass.) exploded with four goals in the offensive uprising. Cecily Cushman (Marblehead, Mass.) had a hat-trick with three scores and three draws for the Camels. Caroline Moore (Ridgewood, N.J.) chipped in with two scores for Connecticut College.

Senior midfielder Katelyn Driscoll (Peabody, Mass.) scored a goal and assisted on two others. Lindsay Cook (Carlisle, Mass.) and Heidi Halsted (Mill Valley, Calif.) both had a goal and an assist in the offensive uprising.

Senior Deanna Ezzio (Pepperell, Mass.) corralled four ground balls to go along with a pair of caused turnovers for the winning side.

Junior Kelsey Burke (Kingston, N.H.) made four saves and was relieved by Jen Morgan (Orange, Conn.), who stopped one shot in the closing 20 minutes of regulation.

Manhattanville College junior midfielder Maggy Howley (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored a goal to go with five ground balls and two draw controls for the visitors. Melissa Goncalves (Holtsville, N.Y.) chipped in with a goal, three ground balls and a pair of draw controls for the Valiants.

Junior net-minder Emy Cote (Saint-Hubert, Quebec) stopped eight shots in 55:30 of action. Liz Cooper (Old Greenwich, Conn.) logged the closing 4:30 minutes of regulation in the cage.

The Camels took the lead for good when Ashley Crutchfield (Concord, N.H.) scored on a nifty looking wraparound move with 21:57 remaining in the opening half. Later on in the half, the Camels built a 7-1 advantage when Miller buried back-to-back free position shots, the second scoring strike occurring at the 8:46 mark.

Brazel followed by scoring the next four goals for the hosts to break the game wide open. Cushman closed out the first half by scoring the next two goals to vault the Camels out to a 13-1 advantage at the break.

The Camels continued to pull away for the 18-2 victory. Connecticut College out-shot Manhattanville 33-13 in the triumph and won the battle in the trenches by securing 16 of the 22 draws in the contest.

Manhattanville will visit Eastern College Tuesday afternoon for a 4 p.m. game in St. Davids, Pa.

Connecticut College will visit Amherst College Tuesday for a 7 p.m. NESCAC game in Western Massachusetts.
