Connecticut College Places Fourth In Boston Dinghy Cup

Sailors also compete in Long Island regatta

The Camels were in the top five teams finishing at a Boston sailing competition on Sunday, and participated in another boating event as well. The following information was provided by William Tomasian, sports information director at Connecticut College:

The Connecticut College sailing team competed in the 82nd Annual Boston Dinghy Cup this weekend.

The Camels weathered the unseasonably frigid conditions to place fourth in the 19 team field with a score of 388 points.

The Brown Bears won the regatta with a score of 316 points. Boston College placed second with 330 points and the University of Wisconsin was third with a score of 376 points.

In the B division, Kevin Martland (Newport, R.I.) skippered the Camels to a second place score of 93 points. Kevin Lau Hansen (Larchmont, N.Y.) was alongside as the crew.

Atlantic Brugman (Barcelona, Spain) skippered the Camels to another second place finish in the C division and a score of 107 points. Lucy Wallace (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) and Sam Parish (Eastsound, Wash.) assisted as the crew.

Connecticut College also competed in the Owen Trophy/Old Guard Regatta hosted by the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Long Island.

The Camels finished eighth in the 16 team field with a score of 251 points. The Harvard Crimson sailed to victory with a score of 118 points.

Yale University placed second with 141 points and the University of Pennsylvania was third with a score of 207 points.
