Connecticut College Places Fourth At Dellenbaugh Regatta

Women's sailing team competes in Cranston

The Connecticut College women's sailing team traveled to Rhode Island on Sunday to compete in a regatta. The following information was provided by William Tomasian, sports information director at Connecticut College:

The sixth ranked Connecticut College women's sailing team visited the Ocean State of Rhode Island to compete in the Brad Dellenbaugh Women's Regatta this weekend. It was a successful weekend for the Camels, who placed fourth in the 17 team field with a score of 177 points.

The seventh ranked Brown Bears scored 130 points to win the regatta. The fourth ranked Big Green of Dartmouth College finished just two points behind in second, while second ranked Yale placed third with a score of 152 points.

Sophomore skipper Atlantic Brugman (Barcelona, Spain) and senior crew Elizabeth Wilsterman (Winchester, Mass.) placed seventh in the A division with a score of 95 points. In the B division, senior skipper Bitsy Whipple (Plandome, N.Y.) along with Kim Bolick (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Katie St. George (Marblehead, Mass.) scored 82 points to rally the Camels in a fifth place scoring.

The Camels finished two points ahead of third ranked Rhode Island and the 14th ranked Bulls of South Florida, who scored179 points each. USF won the head-to-head tie-breaker to finish with URI to finish in fifth place.

The 16th ranked coed team hosted the Southern New England Team Race on the Thames River this weekend. The Camels won six races over the course of the weekend to finish in eighth place. Yale University posted 13 wins to win the two day regatta.
