Conn College Takes Seventh In Penobscot Bay Open

Sailing team opens fall season

The following information was provided by William Tomasian, sports information director at Connecticut College:

The Connecticut College coed sailing team opened the fall season in in the state of Maine with the Penobscot Bay Open. The Camels, who are ranked #15 in the Sailing World's college pre-season national rankings presented by Sperry Top-Sider, sailed to a seventh place finish in the 17 team regatta with a score of 157 points.

Salve Regina University won the regatta with a score of 116 points. The Seahawks were able to clip second place Bowdoin (118 points) in a close regatta. The Coast Guard finished third with 133 points in the two-day regatta.

Senior skipper Ben Bainbridge (West Hartford, Conn.) and junior Kat Andril (Arlington, Va.) sailed to a sixth place finish in the A division with a score of 78 points.

Seniors Bitsy Whipple (Plandome, N.Y.) and Claire Sacco (Glenmont, N.Y) scored 79 points en route to their sixth place finish in the B division.
