The Coast Guard Academy men's tennis team swept Johnson & Wales University on Thursday. The following information was provided by the Coast Guard Academy Athletic Department:
The Coast Guard did not drop a set in beating Johnson & Wales 9-0 to improve to 6-3 overall on the season.
Junior Nick Martin paced Coast Guard with a perfect 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles and teamed with sophomore Blake Maurer or an 8-2 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Maurer also had a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles for the Bears. Josh as the Bears won three singles matches without dropping a set. Fischer won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Austin Dean and Chris Hoffman won 8-0 at No. 2 doubles while Fischer and Erik Oredsol won 8-1 at No. 3 doubles in the win.
Hoffman won 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles while Anthony Foss won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6 singles for the Bears.
