Sailing

Four members of the sailing team were recognized this week by the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association (NEISA) for their outstanding performances throughout the season and this past weekend.

Senior Jenn Proctor and junior Kristen Holloway were selected by the NEISA Awards Committee to the All-NEISA Women’s Second Team. The duo had an excellent year, sailing consistently in all conditions, which helped the Lady Bears to be continually ranked in top-15 in Sailing World’s bi-weekly National rankings for the entire year.

The NEISA Awards Committee also announced that senior Sam Ingham and junior Amanda Hamlet are this week’s Coed Sailors of the Week for their dominating performance at the Thompson Trophy hosted by Connecticut College.

In their weekly press release, the committee said “Ingham and Hamlet won A-Division sailing very consistently. They finished 9 of the 13 races in the top 5, including four first place finishes. Ingham and Hamlet's 47 points in A-division led the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Bears to a fourth place overall finish in the 18-team event.”

Proctor and Holloway’s accomplishments include finishing 7th place at the Mrs. Hurst Bowl, Yale Women’s Intersectional, and the Atlantic Coast Championship, 5th place at the Stu Nelson, 4th place at Charleston Women’s Intersectional, and 2nd place at both the Women’s Victorian Coffee Urn and the Women’s President’s Trophy.
