Joking that the attendees of Monday's meeting might be just as excited about the evening's UConn game, Mayor Martin Olsen and the New London City Council recognized the basketball team and their coaches for their undefeated season. The Whalers had a 27-0 season before 63-55 in the Class L championship on March 19. It was the first title win for the team since 2005.
