Camels Advance To Semifinals In MIT Volleyball Tournament

Connecticut College defeats Frostburg State University 3-2

The Connecticut College volleyball team notched a pair of victories at the MIT Invitational Friday to earn a spot against MIT in the semifinal round Saturday at noon. The Camels will play their final match of the weekend at 4:00 p.m. Saturday.

In the 8 p.m. match, the Camels rallied from a 2-1 deficit to outlast the Bobcats of Frostburg State University, 3-2. Game scores were 25-27, 25-21, 23-25, 25-12 and 15-12.

Earlier on Friday, the Camels secured a 3-1 victory against Wellesley College in the opening round of play. The game scores were 23-25, 25-20, 25-20 and 25-12 in favor of the Camels.

The Camels improve to 7-2 with their third and fourth straight wins.

Junior setter Katie Ketcham (San Francisco, Calif.) distributed 41 assists to go with three aces in the Wellesley win. Senior outside hitter Amy Newman (Los Angeles, Calif.) posted her third double-double of the season with 25 kills and 11 digs.

Melissa Kohl (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) chipped in with seven kills while sophomore Erin Barker (Edwards, Colo.) recorded seven service aces in the win.
