Victoria Tritch, an 8th grader at Bennie Dover Jackson Middle School is Patch’s first Whiz Kid of the week. Victoria answered questions for Patch about school, extracurriculars and where she sees herself in the future.
What is your favorite class?
I like science. It is really hands-on and active and the labs are fun. You get to see chemicals and temperatures and things.

What do you do for extracurriculars?
I am in the Amistad Club. Amistad is the Spanish word for “friendship.” It’s named after a slave ship that came to Connecticut. We take field trips to historic societies and buildings and talk about the hardships of African-Americans in the early 1800s. I am also a cadet in Girl Scout Troop 63101.

Tell me about the play you were in recently.
It was for my Language Arts enrichment class. We portrayed famous African-Americans. We wrote essays on the famous people and summarized the essays on stage. We also had skits. I was Martin Luther King, and George Washington Carver was another skit.
Are you looking forward to high school?
I’m looking forward to getting challenged, learning new things and meeting new people. I hope to go to a technical school.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
I haven’t decided yet, but the nicest and most fun thing to be would be a donut tester. I can make some suggestions and get some new donuts out there.
