NLHS, STMHS Graduating 186 Tonight

A total of 186 seniors from the and will receive their diplomas tonight.

The graduation ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. on the Tempel Green of . In the event of incelement weather, the event will take place at the auditorium of New London High School.

The guest speaker for the evening is Tiana Victoria Hercules. According to the Connecticut Health Foundation website, Hercules attended the and earned degrees from Connecticut College and the University of Connecticut. Hercules works as an attorney with the Center for Medicare Advocacy.

The student speakers are Ami Dhyani and valedictorian Joshua Giambra. Tommy Thompson III, principal of New London High School, will present the class to Superindent Nicholas Fischer. Alvin Kinsall, president of the Board of Education, will distribute the diplomas.

Of the graduates, 22 are members of the National Honor Society, 11 are graduating with honors, and four are graduating with first honors. Forty-four students earned distinction in one or more subjects.
