A Press Release from New London School District

New London Public Schools has released a survey in English and Spanish seeking community input on the fourth proposed magnet school pathway. Community members, parents, students and out-of-district residents are encouraged to take the survey.

The district has scheduled a Magnet Forum on Monday, Sept. 23, from 6 to 7 p.m., to review the results of the survey, address community concerns and explain where the district is currently in terms of magnet programming and where it plans to be within the next five years.

The forum will be led by Magnet School Officer Louis Allen and will include a brief question and answer period. Superintendent of Schools Nicholas A. Fischer and Chief Academic Officer Katherine Ericson will also participate in the discussion.
Following the forum, a report based on the results and feedback at the forum will be given to the Board of Education at its regular meeting on Sept. 26, at 7 p.m.

A date for a vote on one of three proposed pathways—Sports Medicine, Leadership & Public Service and Maritime Arts and Industry—by the school board has not been set.

The survey is online at www.newlondon.org<http://www.newlondon.org> in English and Spanish and also has a bilingual one-page description of the three proposed pathways the Board of Education will choose from. The online link to complete the survey will be active until Friday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m.
