New London NJROTC Team Places Second In National Exam

A New London High School organization has again taken a top spot among schools in the region as the Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps took part in an academic competition.

Commander Ted Ward (retired), the senior naval science instructor at NLHS, said the NJROTC had four teams of five cadets each participating in the National Academic Exam last month. Ward said he recently received word that one of the teams placed second out of 221 teams in the Northeast division and were in the 99th percentile for the nation.

"Needless to say, we are very proud of their accomplishment," Ward said.

Team members were Ryan Dickinson, Liam Greene, Thomas Glavan, Ben Toth, and David Wood.

All except Toth were on another high-performing academic team last year, when the NJROTC placed first in the Area 4 Championship.
