Outgoing NL Councilor Named to Interim Post in North Stonington

Donald Macrino, who recently retired from Waterford Public Schools, will temporarily head up Wheeler High School/Middle School.

Donald Macrino, a New London city councilor who retired earlier this year after 17 years as principal of Waterford High School, has been named the interim principal at Wheeler High School/Middle School, The Day reported.

Macrino, who spent 20 years in Waterford and was an educator for 40 years , is filling in for Christopher Sandford, who left North Stonington to take over the headmaster position at Woodstock Academy. Macrino was an English teacher in New London Public Schools before that.

Macrino was on the New London City Council the past two years, but did not run for re-election this year. He starts his new position Nov. 25 and will stay on till June 2014.
