The Friends of Fort Trumbull present The Common Soldier in the Civil War
Everyone in school has studied about the Generals in the Civil War-Grant, Sherman and Lee; however, few people have learned about the true experiences of the common soldier. Attorney and Civil War enthusiast Fred Vollono, on June 28, 2012 at the Fort Trumbull Conference Center at 7 p.m., will focus upon the hardships, living conditions, and experiences of the common soldier. Mr. Vollono, who dresses the part for his presentation, will share artifacts from his personal Civil War collection including uniforms, weapons, and equipment.
Accompanied by poignant period music, Mr. Vollono will discuss the recruitment, training, camp life, rations, and weaponry of these stalwart men.
