“Forests, Fire and People: Two Decades of Landscape Change in the Mexican Yucatan “

Marco Millones, Geographer, Clark University, will discuss landscape changes in the last three decades in the Yucatan Peninsula and the consequences for livelihoods of rural indigenous populations. The stress will be on how environmental (fires, hurricanes, droughts) and political-economic stresses (NAFTA, globalizing economy) in combination have changed and affected the livelihood opportunities for both Maya and ladino (migrant) rural communities, 4 p.m., Charles E.
