Connecticut College Makes Princeton Review "Green Guide"

New London campus included in list of colleges with commitment to sustainability intitiatives

Connecticut College has again been selected as a campus to be featured in the Princeton Review's Guide to Green Colleges.

The publication recognizes 320 colleges in the United States and two in Canada that "demonstrate a strong commitment to sustainability in their academic offerings, campus infrastructure, activities and career preparation." The list is prepared in cooperation with the U.S. Green Building Council.

Forty U.S. colleges and one Canadian college are new to the guide this year. Connecticut College was previously named to the list, along with the Connecticut campuses of Central Connecticut State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, the University of Connecticut, Wesleyan University, and Yale University.

The guide recognizes Connecticut College for its environmental studies degree, environmental student clubs, 10-kilowatt solar panels that generate 10 percent of the electricity for the Park Residence Hall, and a composting program. It also mentions how the college is pursuing LEED Gold certification for renovations to its science center that include a geothermal heating and cooling system.
