Fill The Spot: 80 Broad Street

Statewide Bail Bonds moves again, this time out of New London

One empty spot in the neighborhood near the corner of Broad Street and Hempstead Street has found a new inhabitant, but another business nearby has packed up shop and once again left the area one space away from full occupancy.

Statewide Bail Bonds at 80 Broad Street recently put up signs notifying people that they were moving their office to Montville. It's the second time in less than a year that the bondsmen have decided to go elsewhere. Earlier this year, they spruced up the space at 80 Broad Street and moved a couple of doors down from their old location at 86 Broad Street.

This former location was featured in a February "Fill The Spot" column and got a handful of suggestions. Most people hoped to see some kind of food venue, like a cafe or small diner, although there was also a suggestion that it serve as the Green Party headquarters. Since then, a salon known as Jireh Braids has moved in.

The 80 Broad Street space is located between the Sunshine Convenience Store and The Island Touch. What would you like to see here?

Since it is right by the courts, how about a coffee shop--or a news paper stand? Or maybe even an interent cafe?

The mayor and council president will lie and cheat to protect the mayor's unqualified and dishonestRead More people. The council and the council leadership is supposed to act as a check and balance in this new form of government. Mr. Smith is one of those dishonest people. It is sad that this person can be so dishonest and that the so called leaders in the community back the dishonest person rather than standing up for the taxpayers and people that really do live here and pay taxes. As a finance director Mr. Smith knows the importance of the proper tax town for vehicles, so he cannot claim ignorance. Is he is breaking the law because the taxes in Windham are lower or because he truly lives in Windham?
