Fill The Spot: 651 Broad Street

Auto shop in New London is up for lease

Near the Waterford border, a sign from Pequot Commercial advertises a Broad Street property for lease. The sign only lets potential buyers know about the amenity of 90 feet of footage on the road, letting them take a look at the property themselves to see if it fills their needs.

The two-bay garage has been the home of Connecticut Radiator & Auto Repair. The listing says the building was constructed in 1955 and boasts a "high profile location" on a commercial strip. The business is down the road from a concentration of car dealerships near the intersection of Colman Street, and neighboring shops range from a sandwich shop and liquor store to a flower stand and physical therapy.

The real estate listing suggests a similar range of possible uses for the property. It gives weight to the garage space as well as ample room for parking and sales, but the top suggestions include retail, service, restaurant, and office uses. By special permit, the site could hold anything from a church to a club to self-storage.
