Fill The Spot: 467 Colman Street

Among the car dealerships on the corner of Broad Street and Colman Street, one property remains vacant after the merger of two auto businesses.

This site at 467 Colman Street is set back slightly from the southeastern corner. A large display space opens up behind plate glass windows, but it is strewn with detritus ranging from furniture to gym equipment. A large parking lot extends out toward Colman Street's commercial section.

The building once held New London Motors' dealership for Lincoln, Mercury, and Mazda vehicles. The business opened in New London in 1951 at a separate address, then moved to this location in 1967. In 2008, it merged with neighboring dealership Whaling City Ford.

A listing for the site by Londregan Commercial Real Estate says the building includes 33,000 square feet and is situated on four acres. It promotes the proximity of nearby businesses and car count, and suggests that it is zoned for automotive use or even a restaurant.
