Fill The Spot: 332 Broad Street

Former auto parts dealership empty after business moves down the street

The businesses in the central area of Broad Street range from nonprofit organizations to pharmacies to auto dealerships. This building fell into the latter category until the business there moved down the street, leaving a vacant building behind.

The building at 332 Broad Street is a boxy two-story structure built in 1960 on a .19-acre parcel of land; it totals 5,000 square feet of space. A windowless wood frame second story is perched atop a cinder block base with a couple of large windows and single glass door. The shell of a business sign retains a smaller placard inviting payment by American Express.

Older photos of the site show that it once held CarQuest, an auto parts dealership which has since moved down the street to 390 Broad Street. Connecticut Commercial Realty has signs in the building listing it for sale or lease with a reduced price. The listing suggests that it could be used for wholesale, retail, or distribution but invites buyers to share their own ideas. The asking price is $199,000 and includes parking for six vehicles.
