Fill The Spot: 308 State Street

Former salon space occupies one of New London's most populated office spaces

When I moved to New London two years ago, the Bump Art Gallery at 308 State Street was in its first and, seemingly, last days. A Facebook page still exists for the business that took its place, Divine Euphoria Hair Salon. Those updates beginning in May of 2011 and lasting until March of this year. Right now, the space is empty except for some window stencils from the salon.

Although the ground level space gets a specific address, it is located in a larger office building known simply as 300 State Street. The building bills itself as a "center for arts and business," and its tenants' list seems to back up that claim. There are a range of small businesses and offices ranging from lawyers to realtors, but also studios for musicians and production companies.

300 State Street lists a number of amenities to the building including secure access, recent refurbishments and renovations, a conference room, and a quiet atmosphere. The ground floor spaces currently hold an architectural firm, another hair salon, and the old space for Hanafin's Irish Pub (on the list for another Fill The Spot at some point).

What do you think should go in this space? Let us know in the comments.

The mayor and council president will lie and cheat to protect the mayor's unqualified and dishonestRead More people. The council and the council leadership is supposed to act as a check and balance in this new form of government. Mr. Smith is one of those dishonest people. It is sad that this person can be so dishonest and that the so called leaders in the community back the dishonest person rather than standing up for the taxpayers and people that really do live here and pay taxes. As a finance director Mr. Smith knows the importance of the proper tax town for vehicles, so he cannot claim ignorance. Is he is breaking the law because the taxes in Windham are lower or because he truly lives in Windham?
