Fill The Spot: 13 Golden Street

CONNfetti closed in July due to slowdown in business

The block of Golden Street just off Bank Street is looking for a new store to plug a vacancy after one shop left last month.

Half of the storefront at 13 Golden Street is taken up by Somaly Hay, a gift shop specializing in Cambodian goods. The other half has been empty since the departure of CONNfetti on July 25.

CONNfetti opened in 2010 and sold locally made Connecticut products and gifts. In June, the store's Facebook page reported that the shop would be closing due to a slowdown in business compared to the previous two years.

Besides Somaly Hay, the storefront is near the record store The Telegraph, the bar 33, and the newly opened Mi Casa II restaurant. It also has the advantage of being close to the municipal parking lot.
