Fill The Spot: 1 Ocean Ave.

It seems like it's hard out there for Metro PCS, at least in New London.

Last month, Fill The Spot featured a spot in the New London Shopping Center that once held the cell phone provider. Stopping by this vacant space at 1 Ocean Ave., I was surprised to see that it was another former site for Metro PCS. The walls still have the purple paint job, and a banner for the company hangs on one outer wall.

A real estate listing on Craigslist advertises the 1,200 square foot space at $1,200 a month and suggests the busy traffic at the intersection would be good for business. It says the place has been cleared for office and retail space, as well as the rather specific example of an ice cream parlor.

Any business moving into the space would be sharing a building with the China House restaurant and Sam's Food Store.
