Colman Street restaurant wins "Best Hangover Venue" poll with 39 percent of the vote

It may have been a bit of an alcohol-sodden week, because in addition to this poll we asked where you got your alcohol for a and profiled a few , including one from , for eBay Tuesday. 

I do want to respond to an accusation that was lobbed against me on Facebook on the latter one, namely that my suggestion that the person who won the tokens could cash in one here in New London and take a road trip out to Minnesota and Michigan to use the others. This is in no way advising you to go out driving while intoxicated. I would have thought that was pretty clear - you know, don't go pounding them down at Stash's and immediately take a 15-hour drive to Alpena - but I guess you never know. Plan ahead and use a designated driver or cab, folks.

But we did wonder where you were most likely to find yourself for breakfast if you had a few too many drinks the night before. And the top contender was . The Colman Street venue, which after a long absence, earned 55 of the 140 votes, or 39 percent.

"We actually have a breakfast called The Hangover," Goldy's owner Anita Miller commented. "Two eggs, two pancakes, two sausage links, two strips of bacon, two pieces of toast and your choice of a Bloody Mary or coffee or juice!"

Quite a few places battled for second place, with getting 15 votes (10 percent), with 14 votes (10 percent), and with 12 votes each (eight percent), and with 11 votes (seven percent). Bringing up the rear were and with six votes each (four percent), "other" reader nominations with four votes (two percent), Stash's Cafe with two votes (one percent), and a single vote each for , , and . The reader nominations included a couple of votes for and one longing for the days when Jack's Place was where Broken Yolk is now.
