We see lots of pictures of the mayor performing his official duties in our community. Those attached here are just the latest focus of the mayor's attention.
Truth be told New London has always been an accepting community. Whalers have been that way since whaling ships filled the waterfront and the men from the whaling ships hoisted pints in the pubs and brawled in the streets. How many of these men were gay? Did the mayor arrange for them to sail to New London with their flotilla and whale oil to sell? I am sure that they were only here then because they knew the mayor would be here now. The Whaling City had gay bars before the mayor was born! O'Neil's has been here for over 40 years, Who else remembers when the place opened?
None of the good that is, was and will be New London can be attributed to the mayor or his administration.
Unnerving really to have this outsider show up on the Whaler's waterfront laying to claim to all that is the Whaling City. Art was here before the mayor, the gay community came to the Whaling City and held events and celebrated their community before the mayor even knew the Whaling City existed. Does the mayor actually think that people believe his Whale Tales? Does the mayor actually believe that he has achieved all the accomplishments of others that he claims as his own?
The grand plan is to take all that was the Whaling City and make it about the mayor. Is this the Whaling City the community wants?
