The Whaling City was DIVERSE before Daryl was born!
What did New London do before Daryl?
As I sat and watched the New London mayor on FOX Connecticut with Al Terzi on Sunday morning I was filled with sadness to learn that New London had been in such bad shape culturally, economically and without leadership for almost 100 years. How did New London get by before Daryl? I was pleased and grateful that a savior had finally arrived in the Whaling City, a savior with a vision to make the Whaling City what it should have been all along. How very lucky all citizens of the Whaling City are that Daryl arrived on the scene just three short years ago and found his calling.
OK enough of that I cannot even continue down that path. How do his supporters do it, it made me nauseous as I typed that first paragraph. Time for the truth, the REAL, “Real Story”, the mayor of the Whaling City is a pathological liar. There is no other way to put it. The mayor of the Whaling City claims that he was a professor of public policy, that is laughable after seeing the extent of the damage that he has done in just 20 months into his four year term as mayor of the Whaling City.
The mayor of New London is the least tolerant and least accepting individual I have ever heard speak, he speaks of diversity and acceptance and it carries no more substance than his vision statement for New London did. Daryl Justin Finizio accepts no one but himself. This man has attacked unions, this man has attacked long time New London residents, this man has attacked voters, this man has attacked the Whaler community and this man has attacked institutions that have contributed to the City of New London for years and years. Daryl Justin Finizio is an anti-union, progressive liberal wing nut without any ability to execute a plan, build a coalition or cohesive bond with anyone except for his closest allies (and that number dwindles each day).

The attacks from the mayor reach into every corner of the Whaling City. Daryl Justin Finizio stated on FOX Connecticut Sunday morning " You never grow a community inorganically; you cannot put something in a place that it doesn’t belong. You have to grow from within, and grow yourself organically". This is an interesting statement, it contradicts the very existence as well as the continuance of his administration and all the changes that he is attempting. The mayor has been here a very short time, he is an outsider, most of his cronies and staff are outsiders. That is not growing from within or growing organically. The circles in which this man speaks are designed to dazzle, impress and confuse those that do not listen, comprehend and see it for what it is.
When the mayor stated on that same show "And I said many times in the campaign the most important thing city government can do is get out of the way of the people of New London" he expects that some will believe that this what he is doing. Yet the mayor drove the director of New London Main Street from New London in order to place a supporter in that role, he drove the New London Irish Parade Inc to dissolving so that he could place his own parade organizers in that role, he made it prohibitive for the Hope parade to continue. The examples of destruction and exclusion in the city of New London in the last 20 months are too numerous to list here. Daryl Justin Finizio has not done anything to get city government out of the way, he has put his administration in the way of anything and everything that was New London before he came on the scene.
"We’re really gonna be a success story" he states with respect to the school system and all magnet district concept. The problem with education in New London is the lack of leadership. Changing to all magnet schools alone is not the answer. ". If we convert our system to an all magnet district we will get 9 million more dollars in state aid", where is the documentation to back this statement up. I think that the facts are not represented accurately, if certain goals are attained and specific enrollment formulas are met the increase in state aid COULD be as much as $9 million. Please truth and facts, not spin and dreams. Every hair brained plan from the past has not worked and now with Daryl Justin Finizio taking credit yet again for something he had nothing to do with and something that has not yet come to fruition seems to be how he rolls.
As a closing note: Why is everything all about Gay this and Gay that. The Whaling City and all of the Whalers are tolerant and very accepting. No one really cares if you are gay, lesbian, straignt, catholic, protestant. Jewish, Muslim, black, Hispanic, white or anything at all. All are welcome and always have been. It has been this way long before Daryl Justin Finizio came to the Whaling City and it will be that way long after he leaves. New London had one of it's first gay bars back in the sixties, before Daryl Justin Finizio was even born. He has not contributed to the diversity nor to tolerance in the Whaling City, he has created a more divisive environment than any Whaler could have ever imagined, and he did that all in 20 months as mayor of New London. That is amazing! Is that his plan and strategy? Daryl Justin Finizio has been nothing but an embarrassment to the people of New London he brings nothing of substance to the table.
